Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the current season, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old Egypt international confirmed the news in a video message posted on his social media accounts. Despite signing a new two-year contract with Liverpool in April 2025, Salah has now decided the 2025/26 campaign will be his final season with the club.

Having joined Liverpool from AS Roma in June 2017, Salah has made 435 appearances for the Reds, scoring 255 goals and establishing himself as one of the most influential players in the club’s modern history.

He will depart Anfield as the African player with the most goals in the history of the UEFA Champions League and the highest-scoring non-British player in the history of the English top flight.

During his time at Liverpool, Salah helped the club win the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, leaving with a trophy cabinet packed with major honours and a legacy secured among the club’s all-time greats.
