AS Monaco’s season started with a 3-1 win against Le Havre AC, however, it did so without one of their summer signings, Ansu Fati (22).

The Spaniard, who endured another injury-hit campaign with Barcelona last season, before joining Monaco on loan, was left out of the squad and has been building his fitness. As is the case with another new signing, Paul Pogba, Monaco are being cautious in integrating the player.

Speaking at a press conference attended by Get French Football News, Adi Hütter provided a timeline for the player’s return to action and explained the caution shown by the Principality club.

He is not in the squad but on a good path. To see him really in the group, it will be a topic after the international break […] for the last three years, injured at the beginning of the season, so I want him in top shape. We are protecting him longer than other players. We are not in a rush; the season is long. We won’t take risks, even if everyone wants to see him,” said Hütter.

Fati will therefore not play against Lille OSC nor against RC Strasbourg Alsace next weekend, but could play against AJ Auxerre on 14th September.
