Simon Adingra (24) was a notable absentee from the Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad, however, now at AS Monaco, he is targeting a return to the international set-up.
Adingra was named MOTM in the final when Ivory Coast won the AFCON in 2024, however, having featured sparingly for Sunderland during the first half of the season, he was not involved at all this time around, as Senegal ran out winners.
The winger has now joined Monaco on loan until the end of the season, and speaking at his presentation on Wednesday, he set a return to the Ivory Coast squad as an objective.
“I want to give the best version of myself,” began Adingra in a press conference attended by Get French Football News. “Getting back into the national team is also one of my ambitions. Getting back to a very good level is important for me and I have spoken with Emerse Faé, who said that joining Monaco was a good decision, because they are a big club in Ligue 1.”
