Manchester City have once again shown why they’re the Premier League’s most dangerous side from distance, taking their tally of goals from outside the box to 14 this season - the most in the league.

Omar Marmoush kicked things off in style against Bournemouth, smashing in an absolute stunner in the 14th minute.

He picked up the ball near the centre circle, surged forward with intent, and unleashed a fierce strike from range that gave Kepa Arrizabalaga no chance. It was pure filth.

That strike took City’s tally of goals from outside the box to 14 for the season - the most in the Premier League, with Chelsea and Nottingham Forest following on 11 apiece. But City’s threat from range isn’t just a feature of this campaign.

Since Pep Guardiola arrived in 2016, the Citizens have consistently led the way in this department. In fact, they’ve scored double digits from outside the box in every single campaign under his management.

Man City's goals from OUTSIDE the box per season:

Remarkably, only twice in the last eight seasons have City not finished top of the Premier League for goals from range: in Guardiola’s first year (2016/17), when Liverpool edged them by one, and in 2020/21, when Leeds (13) and Leicester (12) both narrowly outscored City’s 10.

It’s a part of their game that’s often overshadowed by the intricate build-up play and passing patterns - but these moments of brilliance from distance show another side to City’s attacking arsenal.
