Premier League champions Arsenal are pursuing Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers, who is said to be keen on the move, while Wolves weigh up Pedro Lima and Joao Gomes’ proposed switch to Atletico Madrid faces turbulence.

According to Talksport, the champions have made Rogers their top target and the Villa attacker is open to joining. Mundo Deportivo has also reported Jorge Mendes' involvement in Joao Gomes' proposed move. Rogers, 23 and Black Country-born, is key for Unai Emery’s Europa League winners and is set to feature for England against Ghana in the United States on Tuesday.

In Brazil it is reported Wolves will take their time over 19-year-old Pedro Lima. Atletico Mineiro are said to want a season-long loan that includes a £3.4m option to buy, and they are awaiting Wolves’ decision.

Joao Gomes to Atletico Madrid has been in play for some time. The Wolves midfielder, signed in 2023, missed the relegated Premier League side’s final game with a move expected, but a fee initially touted at 40m euros, £34.5m, is now said to have hit a stumbling block.

Bernardo Silva was also pursued for Atleti, though the Manchester City playmaker instead joined Real. Atleti still want a midfielder but are not minded to meet the fee despite a personal agreement with Gomes, and are looking at Sporting’s Morten Hjulmand and Roma’s Manu Kone. The impasse could invite Galatasaray back, with the Turkish club seemingly open to funding the asking price.
