Moses Simon has begun to look revitalised at Paris FC under Antoine Kombouaré, though his end product is still awaited. According to L'Équipe, the pair have reunited after more than three years together at Nantes.
The Nigeria winger, 94 caps and 10 goals, was a substitute for the final two matches of Stéphane Gilli’s tenure, including at Toulouse. He has started all three games since Kombouaré’s appointment. Paris FC host Le Havre on Sunday at 17:15.
He is not back to his best Nantes form and has not matched last season’s eight goals and 10 assists in all competitions. His influence has nonetheless grown in the past three outings. Kombouaré says Simon has regained belief and legs, and now must deliver with goals or assists.
Since signing a three-year deal last summer, after spells with La Gantoise and Levante, he has supplied two assists and three goals, the latest on one November at Monaco, 1-0. For a forward this return is modest, especially for the promoted club’s flagship summer recruit.
A former Nantes figure felt he had been too neutral at Paris FC, often stuck on the left as play flowed right, a willing runner who combines little. At Nantes he was given licence by Kombouaré. Those close to him say he thrives on trust and responsibility, and the club want him climbing the scorers’ list.
