The men’s magazine Playboy asked its readers various questions about the German national team, focusing less on sporting statistics or performance on the pitch and more on likeability, charisma and personal preferences

Particularly striking: Joshua Kimmich scored exceptionally well in several categories

When asked which national team player the respondents would most like to have a beer with, the Bayern professional took first place with 16% of the votes

Kimmich was followed by Deniz Undav from VfB Stuttgart with 12.5 percent and Bayern colleague Jamal Musiala, who received 12 percent

The result underlines the special perception of the midfielder. Kimmich is seen by many fans as approachable, authentic and down-to-earth – qualities that obviously also earn him popularity points off the pitch

Another result of the survey is even more surprising. 17% of female participants chose Joshua Kimmich as the most attractive national player

The Bayern star was therefore also one of the clear favorites in this category

The survey shows that Kimmich has long been perceived not only as a leading player, but also as one of the best-known personalities in German soccer

Focus on the World Cup

It is questionable whether Kimmich has even taken note of the results of the survey, as the captain of the German national team probably has other priorities at the moment

Together with the DFB team, the Bayern professional wants to go as far as possible and lead Germany back to the top of the world after years without a major title

In the group stage, Julian Nagelsmann’s team will first face Curaçao before taking on Côte d’Ivoire and Ecuador

Germany are not currently among the favourites to win the World Cup, making the role of experienced leaders like Kimmich all the more important

If the Bayern star puts in a strong performance at the World Cup and leads the German team far through the tournament, his popularity is likely to increase significantly. The results of the Playboy survey already show that Joshua Kimmich enjoys a special status with many fans.
