After two underwhelming seasons with their club, the World Cup 2026 is providing an opportunity for Real Madrid stars to showcase their talents in a different environment, but still at the highest competitive level.
Most of these stars are taking full advantage of this situation and shining brightly for their respective national teams. This is the case with Kylian Mbappe, who is the top goal-scorer for France so far, and also for Vinicius Junior, who is also the top scorer for his Brazil national team, and also the Canarinha side’s focal point of attack.
Meanwhile, their teammate Jude Bellingham is also not far behind, as he seems to have rediscovered his best form with England during the World Cup. He has already scored two important goals, provided one assist, and won three Man of the Match awards after the first three games in the competition.
The Englishman was asked about this improvement after the game against Panama, and he pointed to his position on the pitch, making it clear that his best version can be unlocked when is playing as an advanced attacking midfielder, rather than from playing deeper on the pitch.
Commenting on this aspect, MARCA claims that this is also the role that Jose Mourinho is expected to give Bellingham in the upcoming season at Real Madrid. The Portuguese coach prefers a 4-2-3-1 lineup, with an attacking midfielder working as the link between the midfield and attack, breaking opposition lines with his passes, dropping behind the striker, and also regularly threatening the opposition box.
Jude Bellingham would be given this role, especially as he has already showed the Merengues how effective he could be in this position during his first season at the club.
However, it needs to be highlighted here that he would have several other players to compete with for this role, including Arda Guler, Bernardo Silva, and Brahim Diaz. Hopefully, he would be able to keep up his current good form, and replicate it once he returns to Real Madrid for the next season.
