Mourinho ‘to travel’ to Madrid for Real Madrid signing and presentation

José Mourinho is to travel to Madrid on Tuesday to sign for Real Madrid and be presented alongside Florentino Pérez, who was re-elected on Sunday, Fabrizio Romano has reported.

The move returns the Portuguese coach to the club he led from 2010 to 2013. Real Madrid are seeking to strengthen their sporting project over the coming seasons.

Benfica are expected to receive about 15 million euros, the value of his release clause, which will allow a swift handover to a new head coach and a reorganisation of the technical staff.

João Tralhão and Pedro Machado will join the staff in Madrid, with Nuno Santos overseeing goalkeepers, António Dias as fitness coach and Roberto Merella as analyst.

Ricardo Formosinho and Ricardo Rocha will not make the move to Spain, and are not part of the new project.
