The Vancouver Whitecaps took a massive step towards finishing top of the Western Conference with a big win over the San Jose Earthquakes Sunday evening.
The 'Caps came into the afternoon clash with San Jose needing three points to close the gap on Western Conference leaders San Diego, and they took care of business.
A goal in the first-half and three in the second, including a vintage Thomas Müller strike and a Sebastien Berhalter stunner, was all the Canadian club needed coast to the finish in front of their home fans.
The victory sees Vancouver go level on points with San Diego heading into the final week of the campaign, but Jesper Sørensen do still have a game in hand in their back pocket to potentially take control of the conference at the top of the table.
