After their 4-1 loss to 1.FC Köln this afternoon, Hamburg captain Miro Muheim was left fuming at referee Daniel Schlager's decision to send off Immanuel Pherai and Fábio Vieira.

"We weren't awake in the first half and weren't good enough, especially since we gifted them the 1-0 lead. We came out of the break well, still conceded the second goal, but kept going and got better.

“Then came two disallowed goals and two red cards. I don't know if those were justified. I'd rather not say anything about it at all. But the fact is, it's all very hard to accept,” he added.

HSV midfielder Nicolai Remberg was left equally frustrated by the dismissals which reduced the Hanseatic club down to 9 men for the final stages of the game.

"Fabio Vieira says he only pointed out the goalkeeper's time-wasting to the referee, which I don't think warrants a yellow card. That sending-off finally broke our spirit, even though we didn't give up.

"That's our mentality, never to give up, even if it wasn't rewarded this time because everything just went wrong today, and this afternoon turned out to be extremely bitter for us.

“Overall, though, we have to be honest with ourselves about the first half and admit that we deserved to lose this game in the end,” Remberg explained.
