High-flying Rangers have closed the gap with Hearts at the top of the Premiership standings. While they are still a point behind the Jamtarts, a win against Falkirk on Sunday afternoon could see them oust the league leaders, provided the latter suffer a setback against Motherwell.

However, it won’t be a stroll in the park for the Light Blues, considering their below-par away run. Despite being the newcomers, Falkirk are heading towards a top-half finish in the regular season. They have settled for draws, both home and away, so far this campaign, and the Gers must find a way to get the better of John McGlynn’s men in the Central Lowlands.

Predicted 4-2-3-1 Rangers Lineup To Face Falkirk

Defence

Jack Butland has been the undisputed ‘number 1’ in Rangers goal, and the veteran Englishman must maintain his mastery this weekend on the road.

Dujon Sterling made the opportunity count against Dundee United by finding the net. He should keep his place on the right ahead of skipper James Tavernier. Jayden Meghoma is expected to operate from the left, with Tuur Rommens unlikely to return from his muscle injury. Manny Fernandez was rested against the Tangerines, but should return to the starting XI and partner with Nasser Djiga in the heart of the backline. John Souttar was shaky in deep defence, and therefore, might make way for the in-form Englishman.

Midfield

Although Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande are there among central midfield options, Rohl has found the right balance down the deep by deploying Nicolas Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani as the ‘double pivot’.

Meanwhile, Rangers are sweating over the availability of Andreas Skov Olsen and Mikey Moore due to minor knocks. Rohl would rely on Djeidi Gassama and Thelo Aasgaard on the flanks, unless the wide attacking pair fail to recover in time. With Aasgaard shifting down the wide, Diomande could be utilised as an advanced playmaker.

Attack

Rangers have dealt a major blow with Ryan Naderi possibly ruled out for the season following a muscle strain. He was key to Rohl’s dynamic attacking set-up for his work rate and flexibility, and the gaffer would now demand consistency from Youssef Chermiti, who looked sharp as a second-half substitute in the previous gameweek. Bojan Miovski found the net off the bench to secure a two-goal cushion, and his poaching traits might be key, as he scored against Falkirk in Russell Martin’s final game in charge.
