Napoli have made significant progress in their pursuit of João Gomes, securing a total agreement on personal terms with the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the Brazilian international and his entourage have given their full approval to the move, with the player eager to join Antonio Conte’s project in the shadow of Vesuvius.

Notably, while the player’s green light has been secured, negotiations for a summer move between the clubs remain complex due to the English side’s high valuation. Wolves are currently demanding a fee between €50 million and €60 million to sanction a departure, a figure that represents a significant financial hurdle for the Partenopei. Furthermore, the Premier League club holds a strong bargaining position as Gomes is under a long-term contract that does not expire until 2030, allowing them to dictate the terms of any potential sale.

Indeed, the operation is described as one that will require a substantial effort from the Napoli hierarchy to bridge the valuation gap. Despite the steep asking price and the contractual protection enjoyed by Wolves, there is currently a sense of moderate optimism within the Italian camp. The club believes that the player’s firm desire to make the move could eventually lower the resistance from the Molineux hierarchy as the window progresses.

Consequently, the next few weeks will be dedicated to finding a financial formula that satisfies the demands of the Premier League outfit. Napoli are expected to remain in constant contact with the player’s representatives to keep the deal on track, hoping that a breakthrough can be reached to bring the 24-year-old to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona next summer.
