Napoli considered the request by Chelsea for Cesare Casadei excessive and quickly found a different midfielder to replace Fiorentina-bound Michael Folorunsho: Philip Billing from Bournemouth. They sealed the deal in a hurry.

According to Relevo’s Matteo Moretto, he’ll join on a six-month gratis with a €10M option to buy. The Partenopei will cover his €1M salary till the end of the season. If he’s redeemed, he’ll ink a four-year contract with €3M annual wages.

Billing will head to Napoli after six years with the Cherries. He came in from Huddersfield for €16.5M in 2019. He has racked up 201 appearances, 31 goals, and 20 assists over the teams. The 28-year-old has featured 10 times in the current season for a total of 176 minutes, starting just once. He has five caps with Denmark.

The Partenopei might not make further moves at the position. Torino are now back in the lead for Cesare Casadei, but the conditions to sign him from Chelsea are pretty challenging, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

They could have been a little more ambitious, but they needed a rotational piece to substitute for a player who had barely gotten any minute so far, and they got one for cheap. He’s physical and versatile but is a few years removed from his last great campaign. It’d be surprising if he stayed permanently. They might not be done, though, as they have just two options behind the three starters. The possible Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sale could easily lead to more signings in this role too.
