Napoli ‘to target’ Richard Ríos after Champions League qualification | OneFootball

Napoli have secured another Champions League place and plan to invest heavily in reinforcements. They are looking at a move for midfielder Richard Ríos, formerly of Flamengo and Palmeiras.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Ríos is their leading midfield target, seen as physically imposing and technically accomplished.

Sporting director Giovanni Manna has been working on the deal, with concrete contacts between Napoli, Benfica representatives and the Colombian’s camp.

Napoli are exploring financially viable options in Portugal. Benfica are seeking 30 million euros, about R$ 176.4 million at current rates, for Ríos, who is available for transfer.

Ríos spent 2020 to 2022 at Flamengo, initially in the youth ranks before a senior promotion. He made seven appearances, then went on loan to Mazatlán in Mexico before a move to Guarani.

Flamengo meet Benfica on 11 July in the Algarve in a mid-season friendly. Ríos, still with the Portuguese club, could be an option for head coach Marco Silva.
