Manchester City’s Nathan Ake has sparked fresh talk over a potential move within the Premier League this summer as he ‘rebuilds’ one of his former properties.
Although he has largely transitioned into a fringe player – starting just 14 matches across all competitions as Pep Guardiola integrates younger talents like Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guéhi – Nathan Aké remains a ‘big game’ reliable for the Blues.
His campaign reached a peak during the Carabao Cup Final, where he stepped in for the injured Rúben Dias to deliver a masterclass performance in a 0-2 Wembley victory over Arsenal.
Off the pitch, his season has been clouded by growing speculation regarding his future with his contract entering its final year and interest across Europe mounting, whilst Aké recently hinted that the Wembley trophy win could be a “nice ending” to his six-season stay at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, according to The Sun, Nathan Ake is rebuilding his house near Chelsea’s training ground, with documents revealing that the Manchester City defender intends for the property to be his main residence – sparking rumours of a move south.
The former Chelsea defender bought a £4 million property on a private estate in November, and has now submitted plans to demolish the site and replace it with a ‘luxury seven-bedroom new build complete with a club lounge and trophy room’.
The report highlights plans for the property to also include a 32x13ft indoor pool, spa, steam room, sauna, gym and cinema, as well as a games and drinks room, snug, play room, library, study, triple garage and an outdoor covered terrace perfect for parties.
In a statement, Nathan Ake’s planning agent said as per The Sun, “The applicant, the new owners of the property, are now seeking permission for a revised replacement dwelling to better suit their accommodation needs.
“This is a self-build application with the applicants intending to reside at the property as their main residence.
“While the proposal will have a greater footprint than the existing dwelling house, it will make more efficient use of a previously developed site in a suburban area.”
Manchester City are widely expected to undergo further alterations in defence when the summer transfer reopens, with serious consideration for Vitor Reis to be promoted permanently into the club’s first-team set-up after a season-long loan at Girona.
The Brazilian defender – signed by Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain during the 2025 January transfer window – received his first senior international call-up in late March, as a further reflection of the great work he has put in over in Spain.
Aside from uncertainty surrounding Nathan Ake, officials at Manchester City will also have a decision to make over the future of John Stones, with the Englishman’s fitness pushing him further towards the exit door as his contract expires in the summer.
