Athletic mounted a stirring comeback, with Navarro, Sancet and Nico lifting the tempo after the break to flip a two-goal deficit.
Blanco smashed in on eight minutes, then Tenaglia found space to head in from a corner. As reported by as.com, Unai Simón stayed sharp on loose balls and denied Guridi in stoppage time.
Gorosabel emptied the tank and Yeray held firm. Laporte was assured despite earlier hamstring niggles, although he lost Tenaglia’s run for the second. Berchiche toiled against Ángel Pérez, whose pass teed up Blanco.
Jauregizar returned from suspension but was withdrawn at half-time. Rego, in for Galarreta, competed tirelessly yet his passing was erratic, and a penalty shout involving Toni Martínez came with prior offside and no contact.
Unai Gómez was imprecise as a 10 and made way for Sancet. Williams worked hard, headed over before the interval and was also replaced.
Sancet flicked on before Navarro scored with his first action, a touch off Ángel López, the winger’s sixth league goal. Sancet then levelled with a brilliant solo strike for his fourth of the league campaign.
Guruzeta was lively, twice laying off for Nico Williams to finish, the second via a diagonal pass and a Tenaglia error. Nico had earlier drawn three men and a cross-shot almost surprised Sivera, before he struck Athletic’s third and fourth to settle it. Areso arrived on 72 to sustain intensity, and Boiro replaced Nico on 88.
