Nemanja Matic returns to Italy to join Sassuolo

After a season and a half with Lyon, former Manchester United player Nemanja Matic has decided to return to the Italian league and has been announced as a new signing for Sassuolo.

The Serbian has signed a contract for one season with I Neroverdi that includes an option to extend until 2027.

Having developed in the youth ranks of Crvena Zvezda and Partizan, Matic's resume speaks for itself.

The experienced midfielder, now 37 years old, has had stints in Portugal (Benfica (Chelsea and Manchester United), Italy (AS Roma), and France (Rennes and Lyon).

Last season, Nemanja Matic featured in 39 matches for Lyon, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
