Spurs may have to win at Stamford Bridge to avoid the drop
A new date for Tottenham’s away trip to Chelsea has been confirmed by the Premier League as the relegation race is handed a new twist.
The fiercely contested derby was postponed last week due to Chelsea advancing to the FA Cup final, where they will meet Manchester City on May 16.
Chelsea were scheduled to host Spurs the following day at Stamford Bridge in a crucial game in the relegation battle and as well as the Blues’ faint hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
The expectation was that a new date and time would come after the FA Cup final at Wembley, and now the fixture has been confirmed for 8.15pm BST on Tuesday, May 19.

Spurs sit in the bottom three, two points from safety, after West Ham’s late win over Everton cancelled out Roberto De Zerbi’s first victory in charge against Wolves.
The trip to west London will come after the Hammers face Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Should West Ham keep winning and Spurs remain within at least two points, defeat at Stamford Bridge clash would confirm Spurs’ first ever relegation from the Premier League.
De Zerbi will have to make do without key creative outlet Xavi Simons, who has been ruled out for the foreseeable with a serious knee injury.
But the Spurs head coach is remaining upbeat about Tottenham’s chances of avoiding the drop.
“I believe to stay up. If I stay here, it's because I'm positive, now, because I'm a coach of Tottenham, Tottenham is not important on the pitch, if you are Tottenham or another team, the most important are the qualities of the players, and the human level of the players,” the Italian said.
“It was a surprise for me, because I didn't know them, and when I knew better my players, I understood that we have the possibility, the chance to stay up.
“We have two points, not 10 points, we have two points from West Ham. West Ham are a good team, but also Tottenham are very good players and a very good team.”
