Jamaal Lascelles is set to leave Newcastle United and sign for Leicester City on transfer deadline day.

The 32-year-old will bring an end to his long career with the Magpies, having signed for Newcastle from Nottingham Forest in August 2014.

Lascelles has made 253 appearances for Newcastle and captained the club to the Championship title – and Premier League promotion – during the 2016/17 campaign.

The defender did not make a senior appearances last season due to an ACL injury and has totalled just 19 minutes of Premier League football in 2025-26.

Despite his absence last season, he lifted the Carabao Cup alongside current captains Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier after last season’s success at Wembley.

His contract was due to expire in the summer but Leicester have made a move to sign the defender now. Sky Sports are reporting that the Foxes have beaten competition from a host of second-tier sides to Lascelles, who will undergo a medical before signing for Leicester on Monday.
