Dan Burn said Newcastle United earned a ‘good’ point after the club’s goalless draw at Bournemouth.
Newcastle made multiple changes to the team that lost to Barcelona in the Champions League on Thursday night as Eddie Howe looked to bring freshness to the side.
Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton were among the big names to drop to the bench, though record recruit Nick Woltemade was recalled to the starting side.
In a game of few chances, David Brooks had a goal disallowed for Bournemouth for a tight offside, while Newcastle had a penalty appeal turned down.
The draw was a third consecutive goalless game on the road for Newcastle, who have not scored in any of their last four away games in the Premier League. Despite that record, Burn believes a point was a good result for the Magpies.
“It’s not been the way we’ve played here in the past. Since I’ve been here we’ve never won. We changed up and went more direct. A point is good and we changed six or seven players today. It showed the depth we’ve got in this squad,” Burn said, speaking to Sky Sports.
“We’ve invested well in the summer and we’ve spent a lot of money. We should use those players and it’s probably a lesson we’ve learned from the previous campaign in the Champions League.
On his side securing another clean sheet, the England centre-back added: “We’ve worked a lot on it. We have a good team there. We’re happy and got something to build on. We’ve not attacked as we’ve liked but we are a very good attacking team
“We grew into it. Start of the second we could have been braver and took more risks.”
