Scorers: Murphy 20', Gordon 51'
Newcastle comfortably downed Arsenal to reach the EFL Cup final thanks to a sensational performance from Eddie Howe's side.
2-0 up heading into the evening, the tie was almost over inside four minutes when Alexander Isak rifled the ball past David Raya, only for VAR to hand Arsenal a massive let-off by adjudging the Swede fractionally offside.
Inside a cauldron of noise, Arsenal looked flat in the early stages, with misplaced passes allowing Newcastle to pounce and leave the crowd roaring on the home side.
And just moments after Arsenal's brighest moment saw them hit the post, they found themselves down and the tie all but over as Alexander Isak's effort thumped off the crossbar before Jacob Murphy tapped home into an empty net.
10 minutes before the break, Arsenal's evening went from bad to worse as Gabriel Martinelli was forced off with a hamstring injury, further reducing their options at the top of the pitch.
And though they probed, Newcastle held firm and looked a massive threat on the counter attack as they held onto their advantage heading into the interval.
The second half saw Arsenal given another massive let off as a mix up at the back allowed Gordon in, only for his effort to fly wide of an open goal.
But he got redemption just moments later as sloppy work at the back again saw the Magpies pounce on David Raya's poor pass, which allowed Gordon to tap home and secure Newcastle's route to Wembley for the second time in three seasons.
Arsenal never really threatened from that point, with even their corner routines being rendered useless by the Magpies on a night where everything that could go wrong for them did.
Now, Newcastle will be looking on anxiously in 24 hours to find out whether they will be playing Tottenham or Newcastle in the final.
