Newcastle United have received a triple injury boost ahead of their home fixture with Manchester City on Saturday.

According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Nick Pope all trained on Wednesday morning.

The trio are expected to be available to play against City this weekend.

Tonali missed Italy’s final World Cup qualifier against Norway at the San Siro, but he was rested due to being one booking away from a suspension.

Gordon sustained a hip injury, which ruled him out of Newcastle’s previous game at Brentford and England’s recent World Cup qualifiers.

Pope was forced off the pitch during the match against Brentford. The 33-year-old has gone through concussion protocols and is expected to be available for selection this weekend.

However, Newcastle will be without Yoane Wissa due to injury and Dan Burn due to suspension. Tino Livramento is doubtful for the home fixture.

The Magpies have endured a challenging start to the Premier League season, recording just three wins from 11 matches. They are 14th in the table

With the international break now over, Howe will look to bounce back with a big win against City

But that will be easier said than done, with Pep Guardiola’s side having lost just once in their previous eight league games.

City are competing with Arsenal for the Premier League title, and they will be desperate not to drop points at St James’ Park.
