Some interesting odds on Premier League top four (and other possibilities) for the 2024/25 season where Newcastle United are concerned.

With bookies taking stock after the weekend results, including that NUFC win at Spurs.

An excellent comeback victory after Solanke scored inside four minutes.

Gordon and Isak with the goals as United roared back to dominate the first half and win the game.

That win coming in the twentieth PL round of matches.

The bookies and punters reacting to how things now stand in the Premier League table (see below), as well of course, how they are now seeing the underlying strengths of the various teams and squads.

Listed below are the general Premier League odds now available from the various bookies for the 2024/25 season (in brackets are what the odds were after the opening round of PL games):

Win the Premier League:

2/9 (13/2) Liverpool

5/1 (9/5) Arsenal

25/1 (11/8) Man City

66/1 (40/1) Chelsea

100/1 (1,500/1) Forest

200/1 (40/1 Newcastle United

1,000/1 (66/1) Aston Villa

1,000/1 (1,000/1) Bournemouth

2.000/1 (33/1) Tottenham

2,000/1 (200/1) Brighton

2,000/1 (28/1) Man U

So Newcastle United now rated sixth most ‘likely’.

At the very top, Liverpool remain very strong favourites despite their poor performance and draw against lowly Man U, with Arsenal seen by the bookies as the only serious potential threat even though they could only draw at Brighton.

Manchester City back into distant 25/1 third favourites. Chelsea now with only two points from their last four PL games.

This is how the Premier League table looks today (Monday 6 January 2025):

Premier League relegation:

1/50 (1/1) Southampton

1/4  (1/2) Leicester

8/11 (10/11) Ipswich

5/2 (7/2) Wolves

11/4 (5/2) Everton

12/1 (12/1) Man City

18/1 (10/1) Palace

25/1 (20/1) West Ham

40/1 (250/1) Man U

50/1 (7/1) Brentford

250/1 (250/1) Tottenham

300/1 (40/1) Brighton

500/1 (3/1) Forest

500/1 (200/1) Villa

500/1 (11/2) Fulham

500/1 (7/1) Bournemouth

500/1 (40/1) Chelsea

500/1 (250/1) Newcastle United

3,500/1 (2,000/1) Arsenal

4,500/1 (2,000/1) Liverpool

Eddie Howe’s team now seen as joint third least likely to go down in the 2024/25 season.

If you are wondering about the Man City 12/1 odds of relegation, this is due to the possibility (probability?) of severe punishment from the 115 Premier League charges they face, which could include amongst other sanctions, points deduction or even relegation. Still waiting for the outcome of that case.

Finish Premier League top four:

1/500 (1/2) Liverpool

1/66 (1/9) Arsenal

1/3 (9/4) Chelsea

8/13 (1/7) Man City

7/4 (9/4) Newcastle United

9/2 (100/1) Forest

14/1 (7/2) Villa

14/1 (66/1) Bournemouth

28/1 (11/1) Brighton

40/1 (66/1) Fulham

50/1 (9/4) Tottenham

100/1 (2/1) Man U

300/1 (66/1) Brentford

This is where, like me, I guess you will be giving most focus.

Can Newcastle United bounce back into the Premier League top four and get Champions League football?

Well, the bookies now have NUFC fifth most likely after that this excellent run of results, five wins in a row in the Premier League.

It is now three of the next four Premier League matches at home for Eddie Howe’s side and the only PL away game these next four weeks is at rock bottom Southampton.
