In a recent report on Sport FM, Greek journalist Giorgos Tsanakas stated that Newcastle United are ready to move in for Olympiacos forward Babis Kostoulas. It has been mentioned that the Magpies would have to compete with Brighton and Hove Albion in the race to land the Greek striker.
The 18-year-old managed to catch the eye with his performances for Olympiacos in the Greek Super League last season. Kostoulas has already made 35 senior appearances for the Greek club in the previous campaign, scoring seven times and earning a couple of assists in various competitions.
The Greek whizkid is currently amongst the best young strikers in European football. Hence, it is no surprise that Newcastle are showing interest in signing him this summer.
His current contract at Olympiacos will expire in the summer of 2030, so the Magpies would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting Kostoulas this off-season.

Kostoulas excels at finding some space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He has scored some important goals for Olympiacos last season but there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League. Kostoulas mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also play as an attacking midfielder if told to do so.
The Greek sensation is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level. Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing a player of Kostoulas’ potential. Therefore, it is only logical for the Magpies to try and lure him to St. James’ Park in this summer transfer window.
At 18, Kostoulas is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future. He is already good enough to serve as a good, rotational piece in Newcastle boss Eddie Howe’s match-day squad.
Kostoulas has the makings of a top centre-forward and could prove himself to be a success story at the Tyneside club in the long run. However, Howe needs to be patient with his development before he can unlock the best out of the Greek prospect.
