Brentford boss Keith Andrews admits he is not sure if Yoane Wissa will stay at the club this summer amid interest from Newcastle.

The striker has attracted interest from other clubs, including Newcastle, who remain keen on signing the 28-year-old.

Wissa would like to leave Brentford this summer and has been left out of the squad during pre-season, and will sit out again when the Bees face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

“I have made a decision he is not,” Andrews said when asked whether Wissa would be available to play.

“It has been a very disrupted pre-season and the interest in Yoane is very clear.

“As a head coach, I want Yoane to be in the building and be a part of the first team and the squad. I see that. But I am very understanding of his situation.

“I have a very good relationship with him, and that will persist. But we have to focus on the players who are ready.”

Asked if he thinks Wissa will stay beyond this summer, Andrews responded: “I don’t know.

“It’s very hard to know. I know what I would like to happen, I would like Wissa to be part of the first team squad. Where that will end, I’m not sure. But certainly as a club, we want him to stay.”

Newcastle, meanwhile, have agreed a fee of around £43m to sign midfielder Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, and is set to undergo a medical with the club.
