Didi Hamann claims that Newcastle United have made a ‘very poor decision’ in the transfer market.

The one-time German international referring to the sale of Yankuba Minteh.

Didi Hamann believing that the young winger would have taken pressure off Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

In seven Premier League appearances for Brighton so far, Minteh has managed one goal and one assist.

Newcastle United of course found themselves in a position this summer of having to bring in £50m+ by 30 June 2024 to avoid breaking PSR for their latest three year accounting period. The choice made to sell two young squad players in Minteh and Anderson, rather than potentially Isak, Gordon or Bruno.

Only time will tell whether those decisions will look to have been the correct ones.

Didi Hamann speaking about Newcastle United to Flashscore:

“Eddie Howe said he was not approached by the FA, now he can focus on on keeping up with the rest of the league.

“It was another disappointing result against Brighton.

“Eddie Howe has done very well since being the manager of Newcastle, but he needs to start producing results again.

“Newcastle have been unlucky with injuries, but the Premier League is a tough league and you have to be at the top of your game every week. They had players adapting to the team last season, now they need to start performing.”

“Letting Yankuba Minteh go to Brighton was a very poor decision.
