Newcastle United are one of the clubs taking a look at Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund as manager Eddie Howe looks to bolster his attack at the St James’ Park club this summer, according to The Athletic.
However, a move to Newcastle is not currently on the cards for the Red Devils star as he is presently insisting he wants to stay and fight for his place at the Old Trafford club.
Man United have signed former Magpies striking target Benjamin Sesko, which would see Hojlund drop to the bench, and he is available for sale.
The Denmark international could be available for £40 million, which would be a decent fee for Newcastle.
However, they may need to wait until the last few days of the transfer window before making a concrete move as the Man United player has yet to agree to a potential departure.
Remaining in the Premier League could appeal to him as he would be desperate to prove himself elsewhere after the Red Devils brought in a replacement.
Newcastle are also offering Champions League football, which could make them attractive to him ahead of other suitors, with the likes of AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig also keen.
Hojlund could be perfect for the Toons despite his underwhelming campaigns in the Premier League.
His return of 26 goals in 95 games across all competitions for the Red Devils means the 22-year-old has potential and Howe could fancy his chances of getting him to start firing on all cylinders.
Newcastle need another number 9 this summer no matter what happens with Alexander Isak, but they have seen the likes of Sesko, Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro pick other clubs ahead of them.
Hojlund could also refuse a deal but Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson favours a move to the Tyneside club should he leave the Blues this summer.
