Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali appears to be on his way out of St. James’ Park this summer, and a number of top clubs are likely to be interested. The Italian international supposedly has an agreement with the Magpies to depart after three years at the club.

Tonali made the move to Newcastle in 2023 for €61m from AC Milan, and has two years remaining on his deal on Tyneside. Were the Magpies to hang onto Tonali longer, they would risk selling him at a reduced price down the line, if they cannot agree a new deal with him. The 25-year-old has a number of clubs interested, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain all reportedly interested.

Tonali offered to Real Madrid

That list could also include Real Madrid. Last month it was reported that Los Blancos had sent a scout to Newcastle to watch Tonali in person, and it is no secret that they are on the hunt for a midfielder this year. TeamTalk are quoted by Diario AS in their reporting that Tonali has now been offered to Real Madrid as a potential signing this summer. His price tag is not yet clear.

Tonali lower down Real Madrid shortlist

The same outlet go on to say that other options would have to be ruled out before Los Blancos make a move for Tonali though. Their information is that Tonali is not the only midfielder that has been offered to Real Madrid, and he is ‘not the first choice’ for them.

A Premier League solution for Real Madrid?

It does look likely that a Premier League side might provide Real Madrid’s answer in midfield. Aside from links to AZ Alkmaar starlet Kees Smit, the options linked to Alvaro Arbeloa’s side have all been in the Premier League, with Adam Wharton, Rodri Hernandez and Enzo Fernandez all being discussed as options. Los Blancos have supposedly cooled their interest in the Manchester City midfielder though.
