Arsenal have agreed an £80 million deal to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to The Times.

The Magpies star is expected to have a medical at London Colney on Monday ahead of joining the Gunners.

The Brazilian has signed a five-year contract, and his arrival could be announced officially next week.

Guimaraes is joining the Gunners for an initial £70m, while Newcastle could receive a further £10m in add-ons.

His impending arrival will result in Christian Norgaard leaving after Everton agreed a deal in principle with Arsenal worth approximately £7m.

The Gunners pulled out all the stops to sign Guimaraes, and they have finally got their man.

He will improve their fortunes on the pitch given his attacking prowess in the middle of the park.

The Gunners want to win back-to-back Premier League titles for the first time in their history next term, and adding the Newcastle star to their ranks is a huge boost.

They have already strengthened their squad depth with the additions of French goalkeeper Illan Meslier and Greek winger Christos Tzolis.
