Interesting to see this major change when it comes to who is most likely to become the next England manager, with Gareth Southgate overseeing that lame defeat on Sunday to Spain.

A tournament that England had stumbled through, with unconvincing performances and so much luck, despite playing poor to average opposition time after time.

Gareth Southgate going with the same negative approach for the final against Spain, trying not to lose, rather than attempting to win in Berlin.

This time, Southgate’s luck finally ran out, as England played the first quality team they’d faced in the competition.

Spain letting England off the hook really, as this could/should have easily been at least a three-goal winning margin.

So many players who are so highly regarded when they play for their clubs, turned into struggling shadows of themselves thanks to Southgate’s ultra-negative tactics and team set-ups.

He has had one of the best groups of England players for many a year and experienced massive luck with easy qualifying groups and opposition drawn against in tournaments.

Yet as soon as England plays a quality opposition, as always, we know what will be the outcome with Gareth Southgate’s England.

So who will replace him?

Well, the bookies and punters have shown a major change, with one candidate seeing his odds massively slashed after having been backed.

The big news is that Lee Carsley has seen his odds that are generally available, slashed from 12/1 to 4/1.

Only the out of work Graham Potter ahead of him in the betting.

For me, there is zero chance fo Eddie Howe giving up Newcastle United to take the England job.

So unless the out of work Potter is up for it, I can very much see Lee Carsley getting it.

Carsley led England Under 21s to their Euros win last summer, where Anthony Gordon was named player of the tournament.

Gareth Southgate failed miserably in club football with Middlesbrough and was sacked in 2009.

He came back into management with the England Under 21s in 2013 and then got the senior England job in 2016 on the back of that.
