Neymar has a two-millimetre oedema in his right calf after a knock in last Sunday’s Brasileiro defeat by Coritiba, but the issue is not seen as serious by Santos or the CBF.
According to Diario Do Peixe, scans showed no significant muscle damage and the injury typically needs five to 10 days of treatment, with his progress described as positive.
He is experiencing only moderate pain and is completing tailored gym work at CT Rei Pelé to maintain fitness during recovery.
Santos’ priority is to protect him for the 2026 World Cup, though a possible outing against Deportivo Cuenca at 21:30 Brasília time on Tuesday at Vila Belmiro is not ruled out. Any appearance would follow cautious talks between the club, the player, his staff and the CBF. Santos need a win to keep their Copa Sudamericana play-off hopes alive.
Relations between Santos and the federation are calm, with daily medical data being shared. Several call-ups are managing pain, fatigue or load before reporting on 27 May at Granja Comary.
If he sits out against Cuenca as a precaution, he is still due to join up with Brazil for friendly preparations.
Since the last international window, Neymar has logged 862 minutes for Santos between two April and 17 May, more than any other forward called up by Carlo Ancelotti for Brazil. He played in 10 of 13 games, completing the full 90 in seven.
