Brazil have suffered a blow at the 2026 World Cup, as the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed Neymar will not be in the squad to face Haiti in the second group match.

The forward will remain in New Jersey to continue the final phase of his recovery, working at the team hotel and at the Columbia Park training centre to speed up his return without taking unnecessary risks.

He returned to group training at the start of the week, but has not yet completed normal sessions with the ball. Player and medical staff have opted for caution, ruling out a rushed comeback.

The decision is another setback for Brazil and for Neymar, and his tournament debut remains unclear. He was initially expected to get his first minutes against Haiti, but now even the final group game against Scotland is in doubt.

Brazil still hope to have him available for the decisive stages, though the priority is a full recovery before he steps back on the pitch.
