Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella has been going back and forth on the decision to undergo surgery to repair the groin damage.
The Italian international has been dealing with this issue since the start of the season. He wasn’t able to last for more than 45 minutes in the defeats to Sassuolo and Roma. But while his captain, Mattia Zaccagni, advised him to follow in his footsteps by undergoing surgery, the 23-year-old opted for alternative therapy.
However, Rovella’s condition hasn’t witnessed significant improvement in the last two weeks, so the player had agreed to go under the knife. However, Il Corriere dello Sport has now confirmed that the former Juventus player has changed his mind once more, aborting all surgery plans.

As the Roman newspaper explains, the club had already booked an appointment for Rovella at the Quisisana private clinic on Wednesday. However, the player was hesitant from the very start, only reluctantly agreeing to do the surgery. So, with the moment of truth approaching, the midfielder decided to back down, expressing his desire to resume alternative therapy.
The source reveals that Lazio were stunned by the player’s decision, but eventually resigned to the situation. In any case, Rovella is expected to remain out of action for around one month, so it remains to be seen if his controversial call will pay dividends. However, if the alternative methods prove fruitless, the Italian will have no choice but to undergo surgery, thus extending his time on the sidelines.
