Tottenham, one of Leeds United’s relegation rivals, face another anxious wait on Dominic Solanke after fresh injury concerns, with Xavi Simons already ruled out for the season due to an ACL rupture.

Tottenham secured their first Premier League win since December with a 1-0 victory at Wolves, courtesy of Joao Palhinha’s second-half strike. They remain third-bottom after West Ham and Nottingham Forest also won. According to The Telegraph, scans indicate a grade-two hamstring injury that could sideline Solanke for three to eight weeks.

The £65m striker went down off the ball in the first half at Molineux and was replaced by Richarlison. He had only recently returned from a recurring ankle problem.

Even the quickest return would mean at least two games out, while anything beyond a month would effectively end his season. A month or more would also make him the fourth Spurs player to have his campaign curtailed since Roberto De Zerbi arrived four weeks ago, after setbacks for Mohammed Kudus, captain Christian Romero and Simons.

De Zerbi is due to provide an update on Friday before Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa. An absence of just under two weeks from today would see Solanke miss a potential relegation six-pointer at home to Leeds on May 11.

Leeds can set the tone when they host second-bottom, already relegated Burnley on Friday. Victory would move them nine points clear of 18th-placed Tottenham, who will still have 12 points to play for including Sunday’s visit to Villa Park.
