Nine Debutants: Kompany Drives Bayern’s Talent Drive Forward | OneFootball

In his first season with FC Bayern, Vincent Kompany not only impressed with titles but also made a significant mark in youth development. No fewer than nine young talents made their professional debuts under the Belgian coach. Some are already poised to take the next step in their careers, while others are working on their comebacks after setbacks.

When he took office, Kompany had already announced his intention to integrate the Bayern Campus more closely into the professional ranks. Just under a year later, this philosophy is reflected in the numbers: Nine youth players made their first appearances for the first team under the 40-year-old.

While some young players have now firmly established themselves in the extended roster, others are gaining valuable playing experience through loan assignments or with the reserve team.

Ndiaye and Pavic are taking the next step

Bara Ndiaye’s development has been particularly rapid. The 18-year-old joined Munich on loan from Gambinos Stars in The Gambia last winter—a transfer that Kompany is said to have played a key role in facilitating.

After four appearances for Bayern’s first team, the central midfielder even made the leap to Senegal’s national team and made his World Cup debut against Belgium at the 2026 World Cup. Although his permanent signing has not yet been officially finalized for organizational reasons, it is considered very likely that he will remain at Säbener Straße for the long term. Looking ahead, Ndiaye could be slotted in as the fourth central midfielder behind Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Tom Bischof.

High hopes are also pinned on Filip Pavic. The center back made club history with his professional debut shortly after his 16th birthday and has since been the second-youngest debutant in Bayern’s history, behind Paul Wanner. After the U-17 European Championship with Croatia, Pavic is expected to first gain regular playing time with the reserve team, though appearances with the first team remain a realistic possibility.

Erblin Osmani is also part of the expanded professional squad. The central midfielder recently signed a new contract that will automatically convert to a professional contract on his 18th birthday. Thanks to his playing skills, the Munich native is already being compared to former Bayern prospect Angelo Stiller.

Injuries are holding back young talents

Not all debutants have been able to continue their development uninterrupted recently. Wisdom Mike, David Santos Daiber, and Cassiano Kiala have each been set back by prolonged injuries in recent months. However, all three are now back on the training field and working toward the next step in their careers.

Maycon Cardozo has also recovered from his thigh injury and has already been able to get some playing time during the second team’s preseason.

Felipe Chavez and Deniz Ofli, on the other hand, are continuing their development outside of Munich for the time being. Last season, Chavez not only made his professional debut with FC Bayern but also earned his first international caps for Peru. Following his loan to 1. FC Köln, where he made seven brief appearances, he could first sign a contract extension in Munich and then go out on loan again.

Deniz Ofli will spend the upcoming season with Karlsruher SC. The talented left back is expected to gain regular playing time in the 2. Bundesliga and prove himself worthy of a future return to Säbener Straße.

Kompany’s approach of gently introducing young players to professional soccer is thus paying off more and more. In his first season, the Belgian has shown that young talents at FC Bayern once again have realistic prospects. There are strong indications that more Campus players will make the leap to the professional squad in the coming season.
