Chelsea have reportedly decided they won’t be selling Enzo Fernandez this summer despite interest from Real Madrid.
According to Sky Sports, the Argentina international has been a long-term target for Los Blancos, but the Blues have no intention of letting the £110m signing go.
Fernandez has become a key player for Chelsea since that big-money move from Benfica a couple of years ago, even if he’s perhaps not always reached the heights expected of him.
Still, it makes sense that Chelsea view Fernandez as someone they don’t want to lose, and it’s easy to see why a big club like Madrid would be interested in him.
Even if Fernandez has so far struggled to hit top form in a Chelsea shirt, he’s surely one of the most likely players in this squad to be able to help the team move up a level.
His midfield partnership with Moises Caicedo has huge potential, and a lot of money was invested in both players, so CFC would be wise to stick with them for a bit longer.

Some of Chelsea’s other recent signings are probably more of a concern, with the likes of Robert Sanchez, Nicolas Jackson, Mykhailo Mudryk, Pedro Neto, Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho not really doing enough to justify the west Londoners’ faith in them.
While this is not the kind of Chelsea news fans will want to be hearing, Fernandez looks like he could be perfect for this Real Madrid side.
It’s been a frustrating campaign at the Bernabeu, and the club look in desperate need of a long-term successor to Toni Kroos after his retirement last summer.
Fernandez is not quite in that category yet, but he would offer Real something different to their current midfield with his range of passing and intelligence on the ball.
