Guardiola needs a favour from Burnley at the Emirates

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he has “no doubts” that Burnley will try to provide a fresh twist in the Premier League title race.

Burnley take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium tonight, knowing the outcome of the result will have a huge say on the title race one way or another.

Victory for the Gunners would take them five points clear at the top of the table and to within one more win of being crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years.

As it is first vs 19th in north London, not many are giving Burnley hope of getting a result and doing Man City a massive favour.

Guardiola, though, is confident that the Clarets will perform at the best, even if he is unsure about tuning in to watch the match.

“Here in England the teams always do their best, the Spaniard said in the pre-Bournemouth press conference on Monday afternoon.

“Look for example, Leeds. They were already safe and played against Spurs away and behaved incredible to take a draw.

“Brighton is playing for European competition an yesterday beat them.

“Here in England, all the teams will do their best to win and in that sense is always so loyal, so I don’t have any doubts they will try, no doubts.”

In a boost for Man City before playing Bournemouth, Guardiola has confirmed he has a fully fit squad available for selection.

Rodri could start successive games after recovering from a groin injury, while Rayan Cherki and Gianluigi Donnarumma are expected to come in for Omar Marmoush and James Trafford.
