Norwich City are weighing up their transfer options ahead of the 2 February deadline
Norwich City are weighing up their January transfer options as they eye a deal for West Ham’s Andy Irving.
According to Pink Un, the Canaries have assessed a possible deal for the 25-year-old amid uncertainty over his future with the London outfit.
The Norfolk outfit are at risk of suffering relegation from the Championship this season, so will be keen to make improvements to their first team squad before the market shuts on 2 February.
The Scot is in his second season with the Hammers, but he has struggled for regular game time since arriving from Austria Klagenfurt in 2023.
He’s made seven appearances in the Premier League so far this season, including two starts, with West Ham at risk of relegation from the top flight.

Norwich have assessed Irving as a potential signing this month as they eye reinforcements for Philippe Clement’s side.
The Norfolk outfit have not yet submitted an offer to West Ham for the midfielder, with the club also hoping to sign a new playmaker before the market shuts.
But the Championship club face competition from their second tier rivals in the race to possibly sign Irving this month.
Wrexham were linked with a move for the player last summer, but a deal failed to come to fruition.
The Scot’s contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign, so West Ham are at risk of losing him for nothing later this year, unless they cash in before the end of the winter market.
But it remains to be seen whether Norwich will push forward with their interest in the player, as they weigh up their options to bolster the squad, with the team currently 22nd in the table.
Next up for Clement’s side is a trip to face Wrexham on 17 January in a 3pm kick-off.

Irving won’t be an expensive signing for any club that looks to buy him this month given how far down the pecking order he is in Nuno Espirito Santos’ side.
He is also out of contract at the end of the season, so West Ham will have to consider low-ball offers if they want to recoup some kind of fee for him.
This could be to Norwich’s advantage, as long as a bidding war isn’t triggered by Championship rivals.
He can provide some Premier League quality to the squad, and inject some much-needed competition for minutes in midfield for the second half of the term.
