Juventus general director Damien Comolli has dismissed Olympique de Marseille’s latest offer for Timothy Weah, stating publicly that the proposal is “not adequate” and encouraging the player to consider alternative options.
Weah, who reportedly favours a move to Marseille this summer, is yet to see his preferred destination table a satisfactory bid. Speaking to Italian television on Thursday, translated to French by L’Équipe, Comolli was unequivocal: “He wants to go to Marseille, but in football, you can’t choose a team if the right offer doesn’t come in. And the offer hasn’t arrived yet.”
Marseille have already attempted to negotiate a loan deal with a mandatory purchase option for the US international, but Juventus are only open to a package in the €20–22m range. Comolli is believed to have rejected the inclusion of Valentin Rongier in the deal earlier this month, maintaining a firm stance on the club’s valuation of the 24-year-old winger.
Weah made 33 appearances for Juventus last season but is believed to be open to a new project under Roberto De Zerbi at OM. Despite being told by his agent Badou Sambagué that a move to Marseille was being blocked, the player now appears to be stuck in limbo.GFFN | George Boxall
