According to Nottingham Post, defender Jair Cunha and winger Dan Ndoye were absent from Nottingham Forest training ahead of Thursday’s Europa League first leg against FC Midtjylland at the City Ground, an eight pm kick-off.
The session at the Nigel Doughty Academy was open to the media. Vitor Pereira is expected to address the pair’s absence in his pre-match press conference this afternoon, and his selection may be shaped by a crucial home game with Fulham on Sunday.
Forest host Midtjylland in the first leg of their last 16 tie, aiming to finish the night in a healthy position for next week’s return in Denmark. The club have changed head coach twice this season, with Postecoglou replaced by Sean Dyche after eight games, then Dyche dismissed after 114 days. Pereira took charge last month.
Injured players Chris Wood, Nicolo Savona, Stefan Ortega, John Victor and Willy Boly did not take part. Ortega sustained a calf injury in the second leg of last month’s play-off against Fenerbahçe, having been named in the Europa League squad when Matz Sels was sidelined by a groin issue.
Sels has recovered, started the last two Premier League matches and been restored to Forest’s UEFA A list for the last 16 fixtures. Despite suggestions last week that forward Lorenzo Lucca was struggling with an injury, he trained with his team-mates.
