Per breaking reports from The Athletic, the 51-year-old Portuguese manager has been relieved of his duties short of reaching two years in charge of the club, with Forest linked to a possible move to appoint Ange Postecoglou as his replacement.

Despite guiding the former European Champion back to continental competition, the decision comes in the wake of his admission that the relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis had soured.

It has been hinted that Marinakis has been considering a change ever since the public comments surfaced, while Nuno's reported falling out with Edu offered another layer to the tension bubbling in the East Midlands.

Forest issued an official statement, thanking "Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at The City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club."

"As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey."

During his time with the club, Espírito Santo was lauded for his impressive work, helping Forest finish seventh in 2024/25, and seeing numerous players develop under his charge.

Forest sit 10th at the time of writing, having picked up four points from their opening three Premier League fixtures, with a test against Arsenal on the horizon after the international break.
