Nottingham Forest suffered a 1-0 defeat at Braga, denting their Europa League top-eight push. According to Nottingham Post, Sean Dyche’s side were flat for long spells in their penultimate league-phase game. A top-eight finish secures direct passage to the round of 16, avoiding a two-legged play-off.

Forest travelled to the Estadio Municipal de Braga without a recognised striker after Igor Jesus suffered a knock. With a loan move for Lorenzo Lucca close, Dan Ndoye and Morgan Gibbs-White led the line.

Gibbs-White drew a save from Lukas Hornicek with a 10th-minute free-kick. A sluggish first half brought few chances for either side, the rain-soaked pitch adding to the scrappy feel. Gabri Martinez headed wide just before the break and away fans booed.

Five minutes after the restart, Gibbs-White saw a penalty saved after James McAtee was caught. Braga broke immediately and the move ended with Ryan Yates turning the ball into his own net.

Gibbs-White shot off target and Ola Aina clipped the bar as Forest chased an equaliser. Substitute Elliot Anderson was sent off in added time, with little clarity over the decision. Low player ratings reflected a grim night for the visitors.
