It would be a major surprise if James McAtee were a member of the Manchester City squad for next season. There is no doubting James McAtee’s talent and potential but there doesn’t seem to be room for him in Pep Guardiola’s squad. Now it has been revealed that Manchester City have rejected Nottingham Forest’s opening bid of £25 million for McAtee. Despite City rejecting Nottingham Forest’s offer it seems to be a matter of time before McAtee completes a move away from Manchester City.
Pete Graves of Sky Sports News has reported that Manchester City have rejected Nottingham Forest’s opening bid of £25 million for James McAtee. Furthermore, Graves reports that Manchester City are open to selling McAtee. But they would expect a higher transfer fee of £25 million as per Graves’ report. Pete Graves adds that other clubs besides Nottingham Forest are interested in signing McAtee this summer.
As of right now, it would appear that there is a bigger chance of James McAtee leaving Manchester City than staying. With a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing him, it would be a major surprise if a club didn’t meet City’s asking price. Ben Jacobs reports that City are hoping to sell McAtee for around £42.5 million. That was the transfer fee City received when they sold Cole Palmer to Chelsea. Ben Jacobs also reports that Pep Guardiola wants James McAtee to stay at Manchester City.
Nottingham Forest have made their move to sign James McAtee. It would be a major surprise if they didn’t return with an improved offer. But it seems that the race to sign McAtee has begun. The club that meets Manchester City’s valuation will likely land McAtee. It will now be interesting to see if Nottingham Forest returns with an offer that meets City’s valuation. If they don’t another club may come in and make their move for James McAtee.
