Now made public how much Newcastle United actually paid AC Milan for Sandro Tonali | OneFootball

On 3 July 2023, Newcastle United announced that they had signed Sandro Tonali.

In the announcement (see below), NUFC revealed that the Italy international had signed an initial five year contract, taking him to the end of June 2028.

However, as per normal the club said it was an ‘undisclosed fee’ they had paid for Sandro Tonali.

A lot of guesswork at the time as to what Newcastle United had actually paid, but now, Radio Rossonera say that through their sources they have discovered what the actual figure was.

The Italian media outlet say that Newcastle United paid AC Milan a guaranteed transfer fee of €58.9m, which equates to £49m.

However, Brescia had a sell-on clause from their original sale of Sandro Tonali, which meant they received €4m (approx £3.3m) of what Newcastle paid, meaning AC Milan received around €54.9m (approx £45.7m).

Radio Rossonera say that due to the 10 months ban Sandro Tonali picked up last season, it has meant that AC Milan are yet to bank any of the (unspecified amounts of) future add-ons that were also agreed at the time, dependent on Sandro Tonali hitting certain milestones.

The news revealed via a Newcastle United official announcement at noon on Monday (3 July 2023).

The midfielder having signed a five year contract taking him up to 2028.

The transfer delayed due to the involvement of Sandro Tonali in the Under 21 Euros finals where he captained Italy

Newcastle United have declared it, as normal, an ‘undisclosed’ transfer fee for Sandro Tonali.

However, media reports at the end of last week were saying that the fee had been significantly lower than previously reported, a guaranteed £52m for AC Milan.

Great to see him now formally announced, can’t wait to see Sandro Tonali playing alongside the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.
