Nübel’s future open: There is still a chance of him staying at VfB | OneFootball

Alexander Nübel’s future remains unclear and although it is currently unlikely that he will stay at VfB Stuttgart, there is apparently still a possible scenario

It is still unclear what will happen to Alexander Nübel in the summer. The goalkeeper is currently on loan from FC Bayern to VfB Stuttgart, but according to information from Sky, a permanent signing by the Swabians is currently considered rather unlikely

The main reason for this is the financial framework conditions. A fixed transfer fee for the 29-year-old would currently be almost impossible for VfB to afford. Added to this is Nübel’s salary, which is reported to be in excess of ten million euros per year

Bayern are currently paying around two thirds of this sum, but should Stuttgart wish to sign the goalkeeper permanently, the club would have to pay his entire salary – an amount that would be significantly higher than the club’s current salary structure

Despite this difficult starting position, there is still a possible scenario in which Stuttgart could keep him: VfB could hope that FC Bayern agree to a further loan

Should Munich be prepared to extend the current model – including the salary share – by a further year, Nübel could remain at VfB. According to the report, however, this scenario is rather unlikely

Bayern future also still open

At the same time, Nübel’s prospects at FC Bayern itself also remain an issue. The goalkeeper is still under long-term contract with the Munich club until 2030, but has not yet been able to establish himself permanently with the record champions

Since his move from Schalke 04 in 2020, Nübel has only played four competitive matches for Bayern, before being loaned out to AS Monaco and then VfB Stuttgart

Manuel Neuer could once again play a decisive role in his future. Should the Bayern captain end his career, there could be open competition in Munich’s goal – possibly between Nübel and Jonas Urbig.
