Official: Atlético Madrid star signs new long-term contract | OneFootball

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid has committed his long-term future to the club.

The player in question? Pablo Barrios.

Youngster Barrios has for his part spent the season to date building upon his reputation as a star in the making in Spain’s capital.

Still just 21 years of age, the Spaniard has racked up 34 starts between La Liga and the Champions League, chipping in with a goal and four assists along the way.

Barrios is at this point considered one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Diego Simeone, a testament to the midfielder’s quality and attitude alike.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of Barrios’ excellence this week being rewarded.

As per a statement across Atlético’s website and social media platforms on Thursday evening:

‘Pablo Barrios and Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement for the Madrid-born footballer’s contract extension until June 30, 2030.’
