FC Barcelona have officially announced that youngster Hector Fort has left the club to join Elche CF on loan for the rest of the season.
“Barcelona and Elche have reached an agreement for the loan of Hector Fort until June 30, 2026,” the statement from the club read.
Fort, 19, came through the ranks at La Masia and made his first-team debut back in December 2023 when Xavi Hernandez was in charge.
However, game-time became hard to come by for the full-back under Hansi Flick. And with it becoming clear that he was not part of the German tactician’s plans this season, a departure made sense for all parties involved.
A loan move to Mallorca seemed the likeliest option for Fort, but the operation ended up collapsing.
In the end, Fort has secured a season-long temporary switch to Elche on the summer transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old will join fellow Barça player Inaki Pena at the Alicante-based club after the goalkeeper also joined them on loan earlier this summer.
