There is never a shortage of talented young players at FC Barcelona. Thanks to La Masia and their youth teams, the club always has great talent to work with and develop. However, there are always those who manage to stand out.

Even for the latest addition of the annual Kopa Trophy, two Barcelona youngsters have now been officially nominated and are guaranteed a spot in the top ten rankings. As officially confirmed by the Kopa Trophy organisers, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi have been nominated.

A list full of prodigious talents, it sees Cubarsi and Yamal listed as the two standout youngsters from Barcelona. However, Yamal has already won the award previously, so he will not be winning it again this time.

Cubarsi, on the other hand, is one of the favourites for the award heading into the official ceremony. However, the 18-year-old centre-back will have to face off against PSG’s Desire Doue, who is seen by many as the frontrunner for the award this time around.

Still, the award nominates the best under-21 players every year, so Cubarsi still has time to win the award even if it slips past him this year. As for Yamal, Barça’s new number ‘10’ has aspirations that go well beyond the Kopa Trophy, and he is now regularly seen as a favourite for the Ballon d’Or as well.
