Official: Barcelona star undergoes surgery | OneFootball

A member of the first-team ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has on Tuesday undergone a successful surgical procedure.

The player in question? Marc-André ter Stegen.

Goalkeeper Ter Stegen has for his part long been dealing with a niggling back complaint.

Even after spending the bulk of this past season on the sidelines recovering from a serious knee injury, the German’s back did not improve as hoped.

Last week, the call was therefore made for Ter Stegen to go under the knife, with a view to solving the issue once and for all.

And as alluded to above, on Tuesday, confirmation of the 33-year-old’s procedure going exactly as planned has arrived.

As per a statement across the official website and social media platforms of Barcelona:

‘First-team player Marc ter Stegen has successfully undergone further surgery for his lower back problems, performed by Dr. Amélie Léglise under the supervision of the club’s Medical Services at Sports Clinic Bordeaux Merignac. He is unavailable for selection, and his recovery will determine when he can return.’
